Messages to designers, developers and councils
If you design or commission AI tools, here’s what people want you to know:
Don’t assume – ask us what we need
- Test with real people – not just in labs
- Make things simple and accessible
- Think about people with cognititive difficulties, limited speech, sight, or movement
- Don’t replace care with tech – support care with tech
- Share how it works in plain English – not everyone understands the jargon
- Listen to feedback – and change what doesn’t work
People with lived experience should shape the design, testing and review of all AI used in care and support.
