West Midlands ADASS has been working since 2023 with all 14 councils in our region to support them with preparations for CQC inspection.
Four councils (Telford & Wrekin, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent) had completed the process by early June 2025, with Birmingham having completed a pilot inspection in 2023. All received a 'Good' rating.
You can find local authority assessment reports on the CQC website.
This diagram shows the progress of WM councils through the process:
The pie chart below shows how CQC has rated LAs inspected so far (by early June 2025)
The bar chart below shows ratings by quality statement for all LAs inspected by early June 2025, created by WM ADASS from CQC data. We will update this chart periodically.
The WM ADASS team supporting councils through the CQC assurance process is led by Helen Coombes. The sponsoring DASS is Rashpal Bishop.
