Communities of Practice

A Community of Practice is a shared space, whether physical or online, where groups of individuals who care about a particular topic or issue come together to interact regularly. This collaborative environment fosters mutual learning and knowledge exchange (Wenger et al, 2002).

As such they provide a structured yet flexible approach to collaborative learning and knowledge sharing. They create a space where practitioners with shared interests can develop solutions to common challenges, exchange tacit knowledge, and collectively enhance their practice.

As part of our 2025/26 programme we are building two communities of practice to foster such interaction, one focused on adult social care commissioning and the other on social care practitice.
