18 September 2025: Connecting with research: establishing a Community of Practice for adult social care workers in the West Midlands.

The workshop, part of the WM-ADASS Research Programme will be in Birmingham and run 1000 - 1300 including lunch, which will be provided.

Connecting with academic research in meaningful ways can often be limited. This workshop marks the first step in creating a dedicated Community of Practice (CoP) where adult social care professionals can collaboratively engage with academic research, share knowledge, and develop innovative approaches to evidence-informed practice. By participating, you'll have the chance to bridge the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that your work is grounded in the latest research and best practices.

During this interactive workshop, you will:

o   Help define the purpose and priorities of this new Community of Practice
o   Identify key challenges in accessing, participating and applying research evidence in everyday practice.
o   Co-design the structure, activities, and resources that would best support your needs.
o   Network and connect with research-active practitioners and academic partners in a collaborative environment.
o   Shape how this community can enhance your professional practice and impact.

Your voice is essential to the development of the CoP. This will be a collaborative process where your views are valued and matter. It is a genuine opportunity to co-create a community that responds to the realities of practice. Your participation will directly influence how this project evolves.
